Being a Parish Councillor enables you to have a positive impact on where you live – concentrating on all aspects of life within your community, dealing with issues that matter to residents and helping to get the very best for all.
In Somerford, you would be joining a Council that knows and understands all that is required to ensure residents’ council tax is providing value for money. You would be working alongside other organisations including Cheshire East Borough Council, Cheshire Police, neighbouring authorities, housing developers and all those working within the parish.
Somerford has faced many changes over the past five years with more to come as the population grows and the impact of the Link Road is seen. Despite this, Somerford has maintained its semi-rural identity and values throughout.
Together we ensure all residents are kept up to date with matters that affect Somerford and the Parish Council works hard to maintain a peaceful and safe environment in which to live.
The work of a Parish Councillor is voluntary and can place many demands upon your time. You must be willing to attend a monthly evening meeting in addition to meetings on site in various locations within the parish.
You will be encouraged to attend training courses that are offered to new Councillors and subsequent training courses relevant to your Councillor responsibilities. You will be encouraged to keep skills gained up to date.
