Congleton Link Road Update June 2018

I write to inform you that the agenda for the next the Cheshire East Council Cabinet (12th June) will consider a decision to proceed with the construction of the Congleton Link Road.

The Cabinet decision will:

Select a Contractor to build the Congleton Link Road

Approve the submission of the Final Business Case to Government to unlock £45M of funding towards the Scheme

Subject to the above and approval of the Final Business Case from the Government (expected in mid-August) the main works / sod cutting will commence in January 2019 – although some limited advance works such as Ground investigations will commence in late Summer 2018.

The total scheme cost is expected to be just under £90M, with the funding split as follows:

£c24m CEC

£c21m Developer funding

£c45 Department for Transport

The Scheme remains on track to be open to traffic in Winter 2020

NOTE
Procurement legislation does not allow the disclosure of the name of the winning Contractor at this time.
